Re: del sol leak

Go to Honda and ask them for copies of the del sol Technical Service bullitens on the window leak and trunk leaks. These are common Sol problems.

The trunk leak fix will cost you about $10 and 20-30 minutes. Where you are leaking is actually under the panels on the sides of the back window. The clips need replaced and re-sealed.

There's also some info and people that can help you with del sol specific questions on http://www.teamsolcal.com

Re: del sol leak

Your window leak is being caused by either bad seals, or seals that need to be greased. You are suppose to grease the seals with Honda shin-etsu grease every now and then to keep them from drying out, and it helps them give you a better seal. I actually ended up replacing the seals on the sides of the targa ($60 each, new) and my problem went away. Greasing the seals did help though, even on the old tattered seals before I replaced them. The past few weeks we've have some monster storms here and it started leaking again. I parked in the garage, took the roof off and greased all my seals, and once I put the roof back on I haven't had a problem since.

It might also be a good idea to do the "washer trick" on your del sol. This is where you (with the roof off) take the A-pillar trim off, and unclip the rear interior upper trim. In each corner of where the roof goes on the car is a mount for the roof and the locking mechanism. If you take those mounts off, and put a washer between the mount and the body of the car where each bolt hole is, it will lower all the mounts a little bit, and when you latch the roof it will be tighter. This might aid you in creating a better seal. If it doesn't help the seal, well, the roof will rattle less, and I am sure yours rattles plenty. lol

Do you know the part # or name of those clips?
Thanks in advance.
