Check the big black/yellow wire running to the distributor. It's the main power for the dizzy so when you turn the key to the second position, there should be 12v power to that wire.

No.
Remove the oil fill cap and look into the hole while your dad cranks the engine. If the timing belt has snapped, the rocker arms won't move.
If the fuel pump primes when the key is turned to ON(II), then the main relay is probably fine.

And we'll check that black/yellow wire asap.

Checking voltage on the Blk/Yel wire is a good idea. If this wire has battery voltage, then:
1) Listen for whether the fuel pump primes.
2) Check for CEL codes to see whether one of three distributor sensors may be bad. Regardless, measure resistance of each sensor and test each sensor wire for an open or short.
3) Check voltage at the Yel/Grn wire attached to the igniter unit. There should be about 10.5V. Next check the Yel/Grn wire for an open or short between the igniter unit and ECU.
4) If all tests are fine, try swapping in a known good ECU.
