Default Del Sol Greddy SP2 Advice

Hey everybody, I am here from the Accord forum but my wife has a Del Sol VTEC I have a question about.

Right now she has a Greddy SP2 catback exhaust with the SUPER TIP muffler. My wife would like something smaller and maybe quieter. Can we chop that muffler off and keep the piping and put another muffler on AND what would fit if we could? Any suggestions?

We would rather not buy a full catback unless someone wants to buy our current one. Thanks for the help.

Another thing: OBX Twin Loop. Probably crap, I know. Any experiences.

you can chop it and put just about any muffler that you'd like... the obx twin loop i'm not sure of but if it is anything like the mugen twin loop, it is quiet.

So the piping size won't be a problem with some universal muffler? Is there a certain inlet size I should look for on the universal? Thanks.

in terms of performance:

you will not get the same affect with ANY muffler. depending upon the piping of the muffler itself, you need to either be the same size or bigger with the muffler inlet/outlet pipe. anything will fit, the question is: will it work the same?

you're not going to get quieter with anything aftermarket. i slapped down a universal worldsport replica on stock piping and my **** was still pretty noticeable. right now i have a 2.25 inch all the way through on an integra type R axel back and it's a very nice tone... almost stock until i punch it.

For 100 bucks I think I may go with the OBX Twin Loop Universal Muffler. If it sucks I will just chop it off and get a WS2. Does anyone know if the size of this thing is going to be a problem though? It seems pretty tall and wide. Thanks a lot.

Do not worry about the pipe size the muffler shop will be able to make it fit. I have had 14 different exhaust systems on my sol in the last 10 yrs. The current one is a apexi header no cat skunk resonator and mugen twin loop. 2.25 tube dia. my second favorite was the set up before that. same header no cat dynomax for a 350 and a factory gsr i got from a junk yard. 2.25 dia. It was deep & quiet til vtec came on then it had a race not rice sound. If you want LOUD and no low end power at all try a 2.5 stright back no cat no resonator and a can muffler. When Vtec came on it hurt!!! on second thought never try that! I think the obx should fit and might be a good stop-gap for you to try, and if that does not work try a type r or gsr factory muffler. Good luck and happy motoring!!!

I didn't even thinking of using an OEM type R muffler. Good idea. If Ebay serves well enough maybe I can find one fairly cheap.

I have an oem ITR full catback on my 92 hb. It is very quiet. It was modified (shortened) to fit the EG chassis. I am not sure if it will be a direct bolt up to the del Sol, but I will be removing it this weekend in favor of a 2.5" catback system. It makes nice sound in the VTEC range, that is still not very loud. I would be looking for about $200 + shipping for it. It is in great shape with no dents and the tip is still shiney.

What size piping do the Integra Type R and Integra GSR for 94-01 use? I think the Type R is 2.35 in. but I am not sure about the GSR. Thanks.

i think the piping on the type R is different form the GSR.

2.25 inches in diamter = the type R i think. i have a 2.25 inch mandrel bent catback straight piped to a ITR muffler on a deL soL. it's silent until i hit vtec. my **** is a SOHC too and you can tell when i'm in the VTEC yo.

as for the GSR, i have no idea.

if you want to go no larger than 2.25, this is a pretty good system. very low profile and definately performs.

I will measure the ID and OD of the piping after removal.

look all that is good.... but the best is MAGANAFLOW.... you can go with the full cat back.. or the universal muffler.
on my del sol i have 2.50 pipen with a maganaflow high flow cat with the univ. muffler. and ever time i go to the races or i just go out people always ask me what exhaust do i have cause it doesn't have that rice sound... go with my setup... you will be very very happy

O cost... muffler $80...cat $75....pipen $60... $215 you cant be that....

you will love the sound... turst..
