Del Sol gaps in the body joints
Hi there, I just wanted to know if any del sol owners had problems with excessive gaps in their paneling on the car. Some parts on my car have some pretty big gaps like around the taillight, trunk lid, some parts near the targa top. anybody else have this? is this because it is a convertable type car? and does it mean that it was driven hard? thanks. there is a small leak in the trunk as well that Im having a hard time isolating. maybe the trunk seal? it looks as though its coming from the suspension tops.

Your problems sound indicative of a poorly fixed rear-end collision. You might be able to adjust it out, but that depends on how slack the body shop was. If they were just too lazy to adjust the panels right, then you're probably ok. But if they just cut corners and didnt fix the warps in the quarters/b-pillars right, then you're probably screwed.

Ahh I didnt want to hear that. Im being very picky though as the gaps are less than an 1/8 inch. although the trunk lid doesnt close tight. Its a little raised on one area. alot of the panels do seem to be a little loose as well. not bad but not solid either.so it prolly was a mild collision or else they did a good job.

You hope. Carfax will tell you if it was in an accident or not, but the best (almost only) way to tell how serious it was, is to go to a body shop, explain your problem and ask them to look at it. As long as they think you want them to fix it (which you might) then they should check it out for free.

I have the same gaps in my car, when i bought it i asked the girl if it was in an acident and she said no. Well over time im finding more and more evidence it was in an acident and the bitch lied to me. Broken glass under the center consule, paint coming off the rear bumper, gaps in the top panel i never thought of till now bout a 1/4 inch both sides of the center panel on the top most near the 3rd tail light.

Oh well, mine probably was in a accident. too late now anyway because I own it. If accident was minor it probably wouldnt be in carfax anyway. that is something I should of researched prior to buying. But other than that the car looks great. and Drives nice as well. cant tell that way it was in a accident.
