Default Del Sol D16Z6 Distributor HELP! CAR WILL NOT START!

So 2 days ago my car started acting like it had a mis-fire. So when my friend and I start with the distributor cap, we noticed alot of bright blue oxidization. Once we cleared away most of the oxidization the mis-fire stopped for the most part. It was very minimal almost back to 100%, but I figured I should replace the cap and rotor to be safe. I already replaced the plugs and wires. So opon replacing the cap it helped out more. Since time constraints I had to wait on the rotor. Last night my dad and I went out to replace the rotor. The stock rotor oxidized right to the shaft. So we broke the button to get closer to it and finally pulled off the plastic. From there the metal ring was stuck on there and we tapped it off gently. Once we replaced the rotor it will not start, it cranks, but will not start.

When replacing everything as if it were yesterday, nothing worked.

HELP!

Pretty sure you can only put the rotor on one way, but you may have gotten it on backwards given your situation.

Yeah, thats what we had thought too. Double and triple checked it. It has only one way to go on the shaft being there is a flat spot on the metal like a half sphere, with a set screw. Even with the old rotor nothing.

But seriously, thanks for makin me double check it.

I think I might just take it to the dealer tomorrow. Its only $60, and they're pro's... I'm noob.

you should check to see if it's getting sparks first, maybe you knocked something else off while trying to get the old one off

No sparks, tried the screw driver trick. It was darker than usual and we may have bumped something. But I really don't remember touching wires only plastic leak covers and rotors. I could very well be wrong. I'll have to check in the lighter side of the morning before we take it to the Dealership.

broke the button? What does that mean?

Did you take the retaining screw off of the rotor first?

The button would be a plstic part of the rotor. Right where the retaining screw is. And yes the screw was off before we broke anything. Once the rotor came off, the metal ring inside the rotor stayed on the shaft. We has to carefully tap it off being that we didn't want to bang on the distributor.

Sounds like you need to break out the timing light.

I believe z6 stock timing is -16.

We're all wrong. It was the Ignition coil.
Lesson learned for all of us I guess.
