Del sol d16z6 or b18a1????
I have a 1995 del sol si with a stock d16z6. Only mod is 2 row radaitor, skunk 2 strunt bar and intake. Only 99k on the motor and shell. B18a1 Will cost me 325 with ecu, harness, motor no tranny and he will include stage 1 clutch and fly wheel. Would it be worth it to throw the b18a1 in my sol? it has a lot more displacment. But is it slower acceleration? I use this car as a daily driver. But i want some pep in its step without spending the money on turbo. Simple bolt ons. Help please?

well i really want to swap it. Cause i just got a new job and i used to have a ls vtec crx and that thing flew. It was crazy fast. and going from that to this is a dissapointment. But a b18a1 have slower or faster acceleration?

trust me, its better off having a d series motor for dd... but it's really up to you, man. if you wanna do what you wanna do, then do it. im just giving some advises

Well i know it has more hp and tq but i was asking about acceleration. A sohc seems to have more accelertion then a dohc but maybe im wrong. Sounds like a good deal to all of you for all of that?

upgrading to a b18b from ur d16z6 is not going to be a big difference. stock for stock ive seen z6 92 hatchbacks run 15.6 and a budy of mine has a b18 in a ef hatch running 15.3. u can boost a stock d series and make more power then any stock swap under 3k. u can boost and still get 30mpg as long as u drive conservatively i did it all the time with my boosted z6.

But the b18 will handle more boost stock and be a bigger power plant for future upgrades right? Pretty good deal either way. I beleive im gonna buy it just so i have it but i gotta decide soon if im gonna put it in. Anyone else have some info?

yes it is a bigger plant for future upgrades but you have to tear it apart if you wanna turbo it. the rods will fail pretty fast.
if you just want a good DD. boost like 10-15psi and have boost start at like 3500-4k rpm.
still get good mpg and have plenty of pep if you want it.
stock for stock i'd take a b over a d anyday. switching between the two makes the d feel like it dropped a whole cylinder off. no thanks.

B18 with b16 tranny. Stage 1 clutch and flywheel. I/H/E combo sounds like what im gonna do. Getting the swap on the 5th. Might tear it apart and get the head port polished and cleaned up. Paint the valve cover and might look into building the head.
I talked to a buddy of mine today who owns a 2008 civic si. All stock. He said his all motor build would smoke his SI he has now. So im gonna see what he did and look into that. All motor is a pretty good DD right? Never really have any experenice driving a turbo or all motor car every day and keeping up on maintance.

threads like these have no point being on technical forums they are pointless and based on opinions and most people mislead and give out wrong info based on word of mouth and stuff like that no reason to make a thread like this because there at least 10,000 of them on HT.
in the case of d16z vs b18a straight up its a dumb swap if you plan to build it and "race" it then go b. lock this thread already

If you have plans for building the swap, go B... if just driving then stick with ur motor and save the cash. get an h22 for stock reliable daily driver beast.

That b is a good price, even if you dont buy it right away you can build it for turbo over time then swap it in when it is complete. And honestly i wouldnt sell your d, it has hardly any miles on it and they arnt worth that much, buy a civic or crx shell and throw it in that for a winter beater. To me thats the smartest bet, but if you really want my opinion, money not a topic, i love the h22.
