del sol/civic shift linkages- are they different?

del sol/civic shift linkages- are they different?
I have a dilema that i was hoping someone would know the answer to. I have a del sol with an AT and a 1.5 non Vtech. When i got the shell the shift linkage was cut so i grabbed one off a junked out eg civic with the same setup. well the linkage cable seems to be about an inch short streched tight. If anyone knows if they are diff or what i could be doing wrong input would be appreciated
