Default Del sol b16 axle issue

K honda-tech I need some help bad. I have a 93 del sol boosted b16. I just did a tranny swap from a s4c non LSD to a y21 LSD. Well my issue is that the passenger axle won't go in all the way has about a 8th of an inch left to go. But it's locked in place because you have to take a pry bar to snap it out, when it's locked in it wiggles up down left and right like its obvisously not in all the way. Also I tried taking the c clip off and it also went in the same length. Tried a hammer ext. I'm stumped this axle is from a 00si and fit fine in the other Trans. What's my issue!!!!???

Most likely there's a burr inside the splined part of the differential the axle slides into.

Look in the hole and see if the spines appear damaged. You may be able to clean up some minor damage with a very small file.

I had a similar issue years ago with my 91 hatch. I took a very small file and ran it a couple of times through every spline in the diff and the axle itself, cleaned it all off with some brake cleaner and then compressed air once it was all dry to make sure any little filings were out of there, threw a small amount of anti-sieze on the axle and it went right in. Worth a try!

You can use 94-01 Integra axles, any Del-Sol B16 axles or axles from a 99-00 Civic Si (SiR for us Canadian's)

I had that same trans yrs ago.

It should take a 89-93 Integra axle

Yeah a 90-93 Integra axle would probably work too. I believe the 89 Integra had a D series engine IIRC?

A 2000 Si axle will work just fine! The Integra axles are just another option.

I'm not sure where you live but if you're in Canada like me, you need SiR axles as the USDM Si is an SiR in Canada and the USDM EX is an Si in Canada.

Like the other guy said, there is probably a small burr in one of the splines. It could be subtle enough that you cant even see it. Try a very small file in all the splines, clean it out and try it again.

Lol, it's just me, but I don't sell anything until I know the replacements are working.

Just remember when you're doing this, the goal is to remove any imperfections in the splines or get any metal filings out of there. You don't want to widen out the splines at all or weaken them.

All clean. Won't go in. It's like the diff is butted right up to the axle seal of that make sense. Axle can't fit inside the seal.

Nope, well, sorta. '89 axles no. '90 - '93 axles will work, but '90 - '01 passenger's side axles are all the same same anyway. The driver's side is different along with the intermediate shaft between '90 - '93 and '94 - '01 but again you can used them.

In any case it's note a case of using the wrong axles, all B-series transmissions have the same splines in the differential.

I think it's fixed! The axle seal was pushed in too far. Not allowing the axle to sit in the seal!
