pop the hood. That would be my guess. I hope you can tell the different between a b-series motor and a d-series.

you can by looking for the DOHC VTEC sticker on the right side of the back trunk portion (right above the passenger tail light). or you can just take a peak through the window and look at the gauge cluster for an 8000 RPM redline.

Also the VTEC model has a different muffler than the other two. I can describe the difference but you can tell when looking, its noticeable. Also the VTEC NEVER came in samba green, that color was only 93/94 si. There was dark teal/green vtec model in 97 though.

Wow, I dont think Ive ever seen the last two(Isle Green and Silver) in person. Its amazing how rare the late model sols are.

Dunno if this is right or not but I was under the impression that the si had the low spoiler and the VTEC had the higher "touring look" spoiler. Anyone confirm this?

Nope. Only one spoiler style was offered. Most del Sol VTECs I see don't even have the wing.

To the best of my knowledge the color chart is accurate. It's generally regarded among the del Sol community as trustworthy. And FWIW, I've never heard of nor seen an OEM Captiva Blue VTEC.
