del Sol on 17s???
I'm currently looking to buy some new wheels and tires, an upgrade from my stock 14's. Is it possible to go with 17s? If so, could any one with 17s post some pics. Also, with 17s, how much of a drop can you add, without rubbing, etc.?
Lastly, any suggestions on wheels that look nice, but aren't a fortune?
Thanks very much, sorry about all the questions.

Re: del Sol on 17s??? (Brndn999)
Oh, by the way, I'm hoping to have a nice little 2" drop when i'm done, and i don't know if 17s will fit with that drop and still not rub.

I know 16s fit, but I'd like to have a little bit of fashion too. Maybe some 16s though. Any pics of some 16s?
Of course, i still have my question of how much of a drop you can do with both 16s and 17s.
Thanks again

the wheel well on the del sol is kinda conducive to wheel rub given its design, take a look and you'll see there isn't much room in there. I'm running about a 2.75" drop on stock 14s, and it will rub a little, mostly on shitty highways where theres a drop-off after you cross an overpass or when I make a U-turn that requires me to turn the wheels all the way to one side. 14s have big tires, and 17s have low profile tires...so the REAL diameter of the wheel really doesn't change too much with a 17. HOWEVER, be careful about the width of the wheel/tire....thats what really gets you when it comes to wheel rub. Think about it, is it the top of the tire hitting something or is it the side that contacts first?

Re: (elevatethis)
alright, thanks for the advice. I hate to ask ANOTHER question, but i was looking at some wheels i'm thinking of ordering (Gram Lights) and i don't know exaclty what i need. I know i need the 4x100 bolt pattern, but i'm not sure about the offset.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Don't get 17's for your sol, they look too big, I have 16's on mine and they look perfect. I especially wouldn't go with gram lights in 17, there would be way to much space between them spokes, just doesn't look right.

don't worry, i'm pretty much convinced to get 16s now. They're cheaper and i'd be happy with some nice 16s. Thanks for the input. Do you think G-Lights would be alright in 16". Otherwise, I'm thinking Tenzo-R Mean-6 in gunmetal. I know, i know, Tenzo sucks, but the only knockoffs i could find were on wheelmax, so i don't know about those...

i like 15's or under myself i used to have 16's but they just look to big i think i couldn't run enough tire to plz my self. check out some rotas i know everyone thinks it is a bandwagon thing but they make good wheels and they are really really cheap.

how does tenzo suck?
they might be kinda heavy but i mean, are you building a racecar or just trying to look good? I had tenzo's on my accord and loved them...super durable, looked like new even after a year of driving and proper care.
...a lot of people on this board get people's intentions mixed up

Re: (FuZioNxMaxBoost)
I have 17's on my 93' del sol si. has the z3's with side skirts. and for all you motor fans yes, it has a turbo so i'm not all show no go. Anyways i love the 17's on my car. It's red and the rims are white. Looks super tight. Wheel rub is a problem though b/c i have it dropped 2.75 in front and back. Go slow around the corners and dips and you'll be fine though. Or just don't lower the car as much as me hope this helps

Re: (Del_Slowest)
16's will look better and you have better chances of not rubbing... Plus you can get a little bit more sidewall for a bit better ride quality...

How do they suck...compared to a volk? come on. even a cast volk will blow a tenzo out of the water with weight and quality. 16 grams are dope the gold and GM ones are nice. some tenzos LOOK nice though.
