Default definitive - ngk plugs NOT pregapped

i have heard people say that NGK sparkplugs come pre-gapped, and thats what they'll tell you if you buy some at a parts store. i just bought 4 BRK6E-11 (V-Power for 99-00 Si). Now if you look at NGK's web page for this application it says the gap should be .052" - I used feeler gauges and all 4 plugs were at .044" . Now on the page for this application (http://www.ngk.com/results_app.asp?AAIA=1363025) roll over the box for BRK6E-11 and look at the info on the left. It says .044" which leads me to believe thats what they come at from the factory.

Clif's Notes: NGK plugs do not come pre-gapped and must be gapped before installation for best performance.

BRK6E-11

Those last two numbers stand for 1.1mm which is 0.44" gap. They do come preggaped sometimes they get moved a little bit so I always check them.

well i think NGK themselves say not to use feeler gauges to check gap. I am not sure on this, but i swore that most spark plug companies want people to use the pull through rod type to check gap. Just my .02. Not totally sure here, but i am throwing it out for discussion

any thoughts on why? feeler gages should be accurate to around + or - .001" if you use them correctly...

I don't get why people would think they come pregapped anyway, its not like a spark plug has only one application. I got some NGK plats yesterday and none of them were gapped at the .052 I needed. They were all gapped at ..050. At least it was consistent though.

I've had 4 sets on a D series Civic, they were all gapped perfectly. Same thing on the Corolla I owned previously. I'm just about ready to stop checking the gap at all.

Like ABK said, the 11 at the end = 1.1mm. NGK recommends ZFR5F-11 plugs for my Y7 and they say the gap should be .044 (1.1mm) So does the sticker on my hood. On your car they recommend BKR6E-11 set to .052", this means you have to gap them from .044" (1.1mm) to .052"

Looks like they are pre-gapped to me, but just not gapped to what your specs are. Regardless, I've never just dropped in plugs w/o checking gap. You never know unless you check.
