What you're describing is the same gearing as a 98+ JDM ITR S80 tranny with the 4.785:1 FD. Yes it's also called a S80, but this doesn't explain that VIN plate. And technically you're at 54.02mph @ 7800rpm.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JV &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">In some cases trying to ID a B-series tranny is not always possible from it's external markings. So how can you tell?

This is what i have found to be the easiest method of doing so.

First you have to start off by taking the outer casing off. Fortunetly we already have a how to on that subject thanks to Plan B: How to: Take Apart a Transmission

Now that you have it apart. You can either go a step further and remove all the internals to be able to count every gear, or just get a tooth count on the final drive gear, it's opposing gear located on the counter shaft, and the upper most gears on both the counter and main shafts to calculate the transmissions 5th and final drive gear ratios.

Once you have counted how many teeth are on each gear, you need to divide the number of teeth on the counter shaft, by the number of teeth on the main shaft to find the gear ratio. I'll give you an example using the transmission pictured. **

There are 25 teeth on the upper most counter shaft gear and 35 teeth on it's opposing gear located on the main shaft. If you divide 25 into 35, you come out with a .7142857 (.714) ratio, which is the 94+ LS transmission's 5th gear ratio.

Now using the same method, you can find the FD ratio by counting the teeth of the final drive gear, and then dividing that by the number of teeth of it's opposing gear located on the counter shaft, which would be 64 / 15 = 4.26666666 (4.266). The 94+ LS transmission's final drive ratio.

Here is a list of B series tranny gear ratios for reference purposes:

The information in this chart is for reference only, and may not be 100% accurate in all cases.

or you can use this:
http://www.bseries.net/html/specs/btrannyspecs.php

Well that's about all there is to it. Hope this is helpful to some of you...

Exactly. The LS would be at 67mph @ 7800.

@7800 rpm.....

LS= 67.13mph
GSR= 65.09mph
B16/ITR= 58.75mph
98+ITR= 54.02mph we have a winner! That's a nice tranny.

Have you done a burnout and there were two skid marks, not just one? That would mean you have LSD.

The tranny we think you have comes with LSD from the factory.

Has an aftermarket Final Drive been installed into your tranny, or is it from what you know stock?

well from past experinces i know thats not the way to tell,lol
ive had open diff's in fwd"s that would torch both tires 95% of the time and leave 2 marks.lol
then put a quaffie in only to see the samething!.lol
its when its truly under LOAD that you can tell, like in a burnout box with water.
wheir do i jack from to get the front end in the air at the same time and ill turn one of the wheels,and see what the other one does,lol
im new to hondas but not new to FWD racing

That's a 0.787:1 5th gear w/ a 4.4:1 FD. That's probably a GSR tranny. A LS would put you at 80mph at 3500rpm.

Haha, wtf.

There is no difference in gearing between the USDM GSR and the JDM SiR and SiR-G.

From what I understand, all of the JDM/EDM Integra 2-drs were either DC1 or DC2.

The USDM LS, GS, RS, and SE is a DC4. And since the VIN came back as a 2000 Acura Integra LS, I would say this is a USDM tranny. They didn't have LS models in Japan, they were called Ti, Xi, and Xi-G. Plus they didn't have Acura in Japan, although Acura Integras were built in Japan.

The tranny could have been rebuilt with GSR gears. That's all I've got left.
