decided to go n/a..anyone help me make it fast?
so i have a d16y7 with a vtec head and i am about to change the tranny to an ex and do an act stage 2 clutch and ferdanza lightweight flywheel...i already have an exhaust and i was thinking of cam, springs and retainers.. but who should i go with? i heard skunk 2 is a waste.. and crower is good.. and zex is to but i want to see some proof.. and after i do the cam and stuff what would i do next? i have also heard of the port and polish but i need to talk to someone with that done to their's to see if its worth the time and money.. so if you have an imput for me i would greatly appreciate it thanks.. and remember.. i am not swaping motors or turbo/supercharger/nitrous thanks..

if you have performance in mind then get rid of the 17's, get rid of the kit(too much drag), and squeeze NOS on the motor untill it blows. Then you will have a reason to swap to DOHC.
but if you are serious about keeping the sohc, then you would have to stroke it like Bisi E. did. Which will in the long run cost you money.

Say you waste your 1500+ labor costs on an old engine...actually say it's a brand or almost brand new SOhc Vtec motor with i/h/e/full valvetrain/lsd/clutch/flywheel and a higher compression bottom end. First of all that tranny might (correct me if i am wrong) not last because of the strength of that clutch. And (again i may be wrong) that flywheel may have you loose bottom end power. But anyway...the motor will put out as much as a B16 to the ground (maybe) no more w/o FI. That's it...you might see low 15's in the quarter and give gsr's some fright until they put it into third! You will get better 60' times with the lsd...good tires(azenis) and some motor mount inserts...but it will be a lot of money into a ECONOMY motor! NOT a Waste b/c you wanna be different...i mean when you pop the hood the motor will look stock right? HeHe Sohc Vtec's w/o FI are SLOOWWWWW I know i have one...(not built like i was reffering to) but quick for what it is.

I would suggest a swap. In the long run it will probably be cheaper. Alot of people think that having a fast d series motor is being different but there are a bunch of fast D series out there, you just got to spend some money.
But to help out. My suggest is improving your fuel setup for tunning. More fuel is good.

14.5 is doubtabull<<word? But build it and see! What do you want us techers to say? that my wrx got beat by a ex motor? My GSR got spanked the other night by this built d series? You lookin for power in all the wrong places bro. Find a reputable builder (like eugene from pro street!!! HEHE) and invest your 2 or so grand in a beautiful B16A2 or better yet save a little more and do one of those B18C or FI B18B!! JMO

You`re beyond help, Newbie.
You asked me a simple question and I answered it. I can`t help you. Why does that make me an *******? You haven`t see ******* yet.
Even if you bling bling only weigh 14lbs, which they don`t, 17" tires still weigh more than 15" tires. I can go on and on, but like I said earlier, I`m in a good mood today.
Hear the bell? Go home, school is over...

Plus it takes longer to have a 17' tire make a full rotation than a 14 or 15 therefore 14lbs. doesnt mean anything! WOHHHHH that school stuff is MEAN!! HAHAHAHAHA FUNNY BUT MEAN!
