The debate continues..D16A..I have pics!!
I have searched and have heard many opinions but no one had facts. I know Honda makes a JDM 1.6 VTECH. It normaly has ZC as its stamp. I have a 1.6 VTECH with D16A stamped on it, and no thier isn't a number rubbed off or missing. What do I have?

88-91 HONDA CIVIC SOHC 16V EFI (=ZC SOHC) D16A 1.6 $395 could also be an automatic block.
comes in crx model cars not sure if any others. D16A CRX SI

I received the engine from Intercrew in Richardson, Texas. I wanted a 1.6 VTECH to replace the D16Z6 that trashed itself when its timing belt broke. I did research and assumed I would get one stamped with ZC. I have heard that Honda ran short on ZC blocks and did a run of blocks marked D16A. I want to know if this is rumor or truth.

I know the engine(1.6 VTECH) exists but can't find anyone else with one stamped D16A. What I'm looking for is when and where was a D16A stamped block came form.

D16A is stamp used on 93-5 Civic Coupe in JDM land, to mark the d16z6 motor which is made in US anyways.

Bump for more info. The link above has Japanese characters and from what I do see says nothing about the engine stamp. I want to know if any one else has this stamp???? What are its differences from the USDM engine?

it could also be a d16a with a vtec head slapped on there as well
i have a zc stamped sohc thats vtec of which im pretty sure is of that variety
