Default dc sports header...please help!

ok so i searched this just looking for some more feedback. i have a 2000 si. i got a dc sports type r 4-1 header. i know the collector is 2.5 in and i found out the hard way that it doesnt exactly fit on the stock cat. i was told to drill new holes on the flange of the header so that the holes line up with the holes on the cat. has anyone done this? i need to fix this asap cause im basically running open header and it sounds like **** and it really bugs me. i need to put the donut gasket on as well. i bought a gsr one. this would work better than the stock donut gasket correct.

also i dont really have the money for a new cat so im trying to make the stock one work for now. i know i should have done my research but didnt and now im regretting it so please dont flame or anything....

basically any help would be great. or if you can give me links etc... just let me know. Thanks.

take it to a muffler shop, they can make the flanges line up for you and then either drill new holes or simply weld the 2 together. It should not cost you more than 20$. With the right tools it only takes them 10 minutes to do.

Just take it to the nearest muffler shop and have them custom make a 2.5 test pipe. They will have all the gaskets needed on hand. Have cash for them since they would not want this job on the books.

thanks but another question that i've been thinking of is the fact that i have a greddy tic exhaust that bolts up to the stock cat. and i dont really want to get a test pipe its crossed my mind but ive been looking around and people say it doesnt sound that great. now i dont know this because i have never heard my car with a test pipe. and i've taken it to exhuast shops and asked if they could make it work with the stock cat and they never gave me a straight answer.

well i have an em1 and i bought dc sport headers right
from the factory , but since they dont make polished
stainless headers for my car anymore, dc sport had to
get them from the jdm del sol b16a motor and
they bolted up great from head to the cat it is
a mint fitment...if that helps you out at all??

i would recommend taking it to a muffler shop or mechanics shop and tell them what is going on they should be able to fix it by modifying your current flanges or cutting the old ones off and welding on ones that will match up...good luck

ok thanks everyone.... now i have another question.... anyone running test pipes? if so how do they sound i'd probably get a skunk2 and how would i eliminate a CEL if i were to get a test pipe... (the guy i bought the header from had a 2.25 test pipe and the header worked with it...) so im considering getting one. im just worried its gonna be way to high pitched and not worth it.
