dc header really worth it?
hey, thanks for clicking... i have a 00si.. as of now all i have is an intake and cat back, for around 3-400 would u guys get a header next? if not suggestions please... im just trying to see if it is really worth the money

If thats all your gonna do is do bolt-ons then yeah go ahead.If planning on Turbo,just save money and put towards a kit.Maybe get a I/M next or some fuel components.peace.

sure why not, you can find them used for a good price and as long as its not dented or nothing they will work as good as new, but all depends what your planning to do, AM or FI

Definatly going to disagree. A used nitous kit goes for like 500 bucks and gives you anwhere from 50-150 hp. A used turbo goes for like 1500 and give you the same kind of gains. A header goes for like 300-500 and gives you maybe 5hp.

Yeah, its a good investment. I dont' know if the best but one of the first things I would do. I did mine right after the intake. There is a noticeable power gain but don't get hopes up of something huge. And they are less than $300 new.

I'd defintely say Nitrous is the best bang for the buck,no questions.You can get a new kit for around 500 on ebay.$10=1hp if using a 50shot.

header is right in front of your radiator and fan. Once you get moving, the extra heat just gets sucked out of the engine bay anyway...
ceramic header doesn't last as long though, some rust out depending on where you live and what the weathers like at all...
i have a ss dc 421, fav mod so far. Its not like I could really feel a huge difference, but 3rd gear 70-90mph pulls much better, almost like it feels like the engine isn't working as hard, much smoother.

what about suspension? For bolt on's the header is great, but what do you want to do with your car? If you wanted to do auto-x or anything you need seat time and suspension componants before you think about the engine

if you are going to go forced induction, then no. if you are just wanting bolt ons, yes...i liked my dc 4-1 on my 99 SI. it is definately worth it.

yea and it also rusts out ...
For your Si, get a JDM ITR or JDM DC Sports header, with the 2.5" collector .. none of this 2.25" USDM crap

Uhhh...in terms of DC sports I'd say they'll both last the same. Both are welded the same.
I like DC Sports okay. The 4-2-1 header on my fiancee's B16A2 swap lasted about 2.5 years before it started cracking at the welds at the primary flanges on cylinder #4 - nothing a little spot weld can't fix.
Get the DC JDM 4-1 if you can. I have one on my B18C5 and i like it. It might not have good ground clearance on a B16A if your car is lowered a lot though.
Look hard and Dc headers (ceramic) can be found for under $300.00 easily.

another alternative to the dc jdm 4-1 is the real jdm itr 4-1 from the 98+ itr. ive seen them go for almost the same price use as the ceramic. ive had both, and IMO, the jdm 4-1 outbeats the dc jdm.

I bought KillerBee's ceramic 4-1 header for my B16 EG....I can't really say how much of a difference the header alone made,because I built and installed a 2.25" exhaust system at the same time...but those two mods alone made a MAD difference compared to what I had before. The crazy thing is that there are plenty of better headers out there.

seeing u live in calif. the CARB # s weld d to the header will get ya out of trouble if u ever have to pop ur hood..there are other header s that are CARB approve d but the DC 4-2-1 seem d to out perform all of them
if u like driving around at 4k rpm s id opt for a 4-1 which will give u better high end performance..otherwise go with the 4-2-1 design
ull want the heat going out the exhaust ..not leaking into the engine bay..so id also opt for the ceramic coat d
