Default DC Ceramic Headers

Alright everyone im new..and i really want to get good at this... so please try to take it easy on me. Alright.. For christmas my parents bought me DC ceramic headers.... I just wanted to find out which works best! Ceramic? Or Stainless Headers? Many of my friends say that the ceramic will crack, and then some say they wont. Can any one help me out? Thanks

I figured he read the whole thread becuase it has some info on there. Well, this is my post in that thread. As far as the cracking part, it has never happened to me.

I like ceramic because it wont look all rainbowish like SS header(s) will, after it has been used.
I had a ceramic dc-header for almost 5 years and it never rusted, but it did show signs of really light rust dots near the flange, before the cat, and thats close to 5 years of use.

Im sure you can also spray some high temp silver coating on the header flange or header itself, if you would like.

1 vote for Ceramic.

If u kno your **** answer his question if u dont stfu . Im sick of "SEARCH" being an automatic answer. If its an obvious question with proven facts like "whats a b16?" or "what does a 50 shot mean?" then tell the person to search. There's are alot of diff opinions and incorrect information that u get wen u search. This can easily confuse a newb. Im not even a newb and **** somtimes confuses me wen i search. Tell the man wat he wants to know or tell him wat u've HEARD or EXPERIENCES. It will help him come to a conclusion on his own which is the point. And you wont waste anymore time than u do copying and pasting the search link.

Um the thread u linked has nothing to do with DC HEADERS....the acronym "D.C." is nowhere in the thread. He asked about DC ceramic headers so answer his question about DC ceramic headers.

Well hardcore guy, read the 4th post.

You folks make me laugh.
Why dont you take the initiative and answer his question yourself?

You obviously have no relevant answer than to post and ***** his thread.

bottom line is. ceramic CRACKS. stainless steel DOESN'T. stainless steel runs hotter than ceramic, but that's also why they have header wrap. stainless steel turns odd colors over the years, ceramic doesn't. you decide, its a matter of preferance.

I would help out any fellow out there that needs help. But when folks jump to conclusions without much detail, things turn stupid really fast.

Actually...Ceramic is just that, it's ceramic coating.. I've had ceramic for the last 3 years without a problem. They make ceramic because it runs cooler... Stainless has the same properties as ceramic, minus the coating. And they don't make header wrap so the headers can reduce temperatures...If you read the info on wrap, it keeps heat within the chamber and thats about it.

Generally speaking, stainless steel is more likely to crack on it's own since it is a relatively brittle metal that if flexed will be prone to cracking or splitting. Mild steal which nearly all ceramic coated headers are, are not generally prone to cracking unless header wrap is used. Performance wise they will both give you the same gains, I would use stainless if I lived in an area with a corrosive environment and wanted them to last for the life of the car. If you live in a corrosion free environment or store your car in the winters, a ceramic coated header is a very economical alternative to the higher priced SS header and will still give you many years of use before it would rot out.

i have no experience with ceramic but i have the stainless DC header and it dragged on the ground for a good 10 feet yesterday and was also resting on a trailer with the weight of the car on it (wait for my post about this story later today) and its still fine.

Just the facts from my own experience...

I've had a DC 4-2-1 two piece ceramic "coated" header on my car for about 4 years...except from some small rust spots on the top it is still in perfect condition.
