Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Boost Pressure)
id assume it is illegal bc the only use for it would be to acced the speed limit not too sure but my guess would be that there is no reason for it other than exceeding the speed limit or racing.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Spoon Hybrid)
Actually, sir, you are wrong. Nitrous Oxide is used as an anestetic. aka a knock out agent. Perhaps it gets you giddy, but it is intended to knock you out.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Happyman)
the definition of anesthetic is lacking awareness or sensitivity. which is exactly what it does. i have been to the dentist, they have used nitrous oxide, i didn't feel sleepy at all.

Only reason I asked is because me and my friend were arguing about this the other day, and I just wanted to know the real reason.
Thanks.
How is that supposed to help???
Thanks.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Boost Pressure)
It doesn't matter what it does, if you breath too much NOS and not enough Oxygen you will pass out.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (NUISANCE)
Nos AKA Giggle juice... used in dentists offices to sedate or even pass you out. It's dangerous because if it is hooked up incorrectly, your engine will tend to retaliate and well.. that's not pretty. besides the fact that it makes you go faster than you truly need to be going... never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Happyman)
NOS is better known as NO2 which is one part nitrogen for every 2 part oxygen hence NO2 so in conclusion it is about the same feeling as taking CO2 hits and I am very sure I know how both of those are and will make you pass out after a great amount is inhaled into your lungs but any one would have exited the vehicle by that time any ways. So "HUFF IT UP"

Either way, the **** stinks these days.....TRUST ME, you don't want to smell it.
Nitrous is illegal because of two things: 1. Emissions
and 2. Is a whole collection of stuff. a. Pressurized bottle! b. Destroys engines with misuse and can lead to further accidents when you blow the engine on the freeway. (oil slick)
EDIT: B and C were too closely related so I just made them both B
EDIT AGAIN: If you want to learn more about Nitrous, get in touch with Nata, Mistabone or LaughinXXX.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Spade)
#1- A high dose of N20 (i.e. very rapid bottle leak in an enclosed area) will render the avg. person unconsicous after enough of it has been inhaled. It's a mild sedative, but a lot of it may knock you out.
#2- Many places add a small dose of sulphur to the mix of N20 to prevent inentional inhalation, however, not everybody does this. After closing the bottle in my brother in law's Civic, I purge out the remaining contents in the line and there is a very distinct fruity odor left behind by the nirtous, no sulphur.

I do agree that emissions probably has something to do with it.
Plus the fact that the main use of nitrous is racing.

You can have the bottle in your car in VA, it just can't be turned on. I had my ZEX kit installed on my car last month when i passed emissions, they didn't say anything.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Sohc Driver)
the human body can't use the N20 molecule. but if you were to breath in 2 parts nitrogen and 1 part oxygen seperatly, you would be fine. infact that is what the atmosphere is.
edit: 94hondahybrid, it doesn't have to be flamable to be explosive. if you have something under pressure, and its container is hit hard enough, boom.

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Spoon Hybrid)
ok, here comes the knowledge...it is an oxidizer, which allows more fuel to be burned BECAUSE it is full of oxygen. It raises internal temps, allowing the fuel to be burned more thoroughly. It is illegal to have the line connected in a street car in every state in the union, that I'm pretty sure of. It is not flammable in itself, but the high oxygen content surely wouldn't hurt a fire in your trunk, as O2 does tend to feed a flame...

Re: Dangers of Nitrous (Sprayin')
Atcually, I'm no expert, but...
The nitrogen in it's two parts is COLD, but needs to be carried by the oxygen molecule. COLD air = dense air + more fuel =bigger explosion = more power
Keep it simple

NOS yo? first of all, NOS gets you giddy, not sleepy. not to mention he would have left the car long before he got any kind of high because they pack "NOS" with sulfer these days, just so you don't sniff it. so unless this guy was the fart smelling champion of the world, he wouldn't last 2 seconds in a car with leaky nitrous.
