Damn You Window Trim!
As many of you eh hatch owners know, with a 9-12 year old car the window trim rubber starts to peal off leaving a crome trim. If I were trying for the "bling affect" than this would work, but since I am not, I am looking for ways to renew the trim with a black paint that wont look tacky.
Some might say, "Why not replace them?" Well I went to honda and they want 60$ for each trim!?!?!
Any I deas with pics would be great!

Really? How many coats did you put on there? Man those trims are a pain in the *** to get out because they seem to break if any force is used. I will try that and hope to have it last atleast a year before peeling
Thanks
Thanks

there is a rubber conditioner called forever black... Dont get it on your paint, it will make the mouldings look brand new though.

I think the metal is aluminum. If so, paint has a hard time bonding to it. You may want to put a coat of etch primer on first. Then hit it with the black paint. I need to do the same thing to my son's EG HB. I may try wiping it with vinegar before painting. Vinegar is a mild acid (acedic acid) it may etch the metal slightly and allow the paint to stick.

Re:
Its still not cheap and most of us would rather diy but hondaautomotiveparts.com has them for 42.70 each. Figure in the 5 dollar handling charge tax and about 10 bucks for shipping and you may be able to come in under $100.
If you have a helms manual it shows in detail how to remove them. If you dont have one and want it pm me and I can give you a link to dl it.

Sanding will get you nowhere except accidently ******* up your paint. I used a razor blade and cut all that **** off (carefully). Afterwards just clean the metal real well and wipe it down with rubbing alcohol (helps paint bond better). I then used regular flat black spray paint to finish it off.
Looks like new.

There are 2-3 small clips that hold it down. Just try lifting it up and you should be able to stick a small flathead in between and release the clips, one at a time.

just suck it up and buy new ones.
you can paint them, I did that on my car.
if you do it cleanly, then VISUALLY its great.
upclose you know its painted I guess, but no one will notice unless you point it out.
I've got new ones on my car now,
better, but the last owner payed to put em on, not me, hehe.
I'd recommend taking off your inner door panels to remove them.
