Default damn it

radiator fan sometimes doesn't turn on. should i check for:

1) motor
2) relay
3) sensor

...first?

I would try the motor first personally because it could be wired to a power to see the fan will actually activate.

Run wire straight off the battery to the motor to see if it spins. If it does, well the fan is okay. Also, if you really want to check, run a 12v lamp into the circuit. When the fan is supposed to be on, the light should come on as well. If the light doesn't, its the relay or something. Actually, you could put 12v lamps at every stage of the circuit!

It should be your fan switch....mine did that a while back...the switch cost me like 30 to 40 bucks....plus labor....yeah yeah I didn't know you yet...
