Default Daily EG Coupe - any advices?

Hello there,
after many stages of being a driver and making thoughts about possible builds i have finally my money togather and want to buy my first "not stock"-car/or customize my first car.

I was almost about to buy an MR2 SW20 because of various reasons like the amazing body and the mid-rear layout which i was told provides great performance.

But then 2 of my best friends bought themself each a Civic EJ2 and so they convinced me to buy an EG coupe. Since my last car was an Civic EP2 i am pretty optimistic that i wont be disappointed with that platform.

-But before i buy the basis and start the "minor-build" i wanted to ask you guys for your opinion.

Budget: 4500 Euro
Goal(These are goals and im in aware that some arent possible and that i need to do some compromises:
-Daily driveable in terms of not burning more than 10l/100km if driven very gently.
-As low as possible on 17" rims
-Enough cornering-performance/handling to really enjoy a ride to the hills
-As fast as possible off the line 0-100 ~6 seconds
-Max Speed doesnt need to be more than 200km/h
-Still needs to be street legal in germany

I thought of buying the EJ1 with the D16Z6, swap the rear axle for disc brakes and try a turbobuild by myself with an gt30-like turbocharger and hondata traction control(saw it on a k20 turbo build, yet i dont know how good it would work out)

Another option i thought of was doing a B16A2 swap and using a bigger final drive to increase the acceleration.

So, what do you guys say?
Thanks in advance.

Your budget and goals are realistic which is good...

0-100 km/h around 6 sec is easily done with a ej2 coupe with at least a b16. If you already have the cash and are looking for a swap I would personally look into a b18c. For the slightly higher cost, you will be alot more happy with that choice. Even with a 4.9 final drive your top speed will be around 220 km/h reving at a mear 8200rpm

Gotta ask why 17's? Only 17's I would touch would have to be an extremely light weight set.

The thing is, that the MOT in germany has to check the engine if i do the swap.
I might get away with the B16A2 because the EG6 has the same engine bay and the same engine off factory, but with an B18C6 i will have an hard time getting the MOT to allow me to drive the car... maybe would ve to pay up to 1000 Euro because they have to inspect the car.

Because i want it to look like this

I suppose i forgot to mention that i dont want to do any huge weight reduction stuff by taking the interior out, except A/C.
Do you really suppose 6 seconds are possible?
An EG2(B16)-driver told me that he needs 8 seconds or even more sometimes.

Focus more on the handling and less on the "as low as possible", you will be happy if you do.

If a b18 is not possible a b16 would be fine, just save up later and turbo it.

If the SW20 is turbo there's no reason to get the EJ2.

Actually there is.
We already have 2 EJ2's and another one would be dope(Fast and the Furious).
You already almost get not to see an EJ2 here in my town... but with me there would always be 3 at the same spott.
I have more experience with FWD Platform, especially Honda.
I have been a Hondafanatic even before i got into JDM-stuff.

-
The SW20 Turbo costs much more.

But... do you prefer the SW20 Turbo THAT much more than the EJ2?

I want to focus a bit more on handling anyway.

But the question is, will a B16 w/o turbo get me in 6 seconds to 100?

If your care more about handling and speed a turbo mr2 wins hands down.

If you want nice peppy car that is practical, easy to work on I would get the honda.

I just purchased a eg hatch myself dec 2012. I love how much access I have on the engine. ( had wrx turbo wagon, fd3s )

These are old cars and will need parts replaced/up keep unless you plan to put in brand new engine/transmission/clutch/sensors etc.. Probably not right. I would go for the honda just because it will be sooo much easier to fix.

It will be close for the 6 seconds, I think a GSR would though.

Are you crazy? Are is that a typo?

0-100 mph in six seconds would take 600cc sport bike.

KM BUDDY LMFAO 100km if you notice he didn't want to have a car that goes much more than 200KM so i'm pretty sure he meant 0-100km also. 0-100km is 0-60MPH i'm pretty sure a gsr can get to 0-60mph in 6 seconds lmao

0-100 km is 0-62mph

For a car to go under 6 seconds it is going to need to be pretty quick. a stock integra GSR runs a 0-60 in just over 7 seconds. Putting that motor in a Hatch I think you could do it, a B16a though I highly doubt it since it struggle with lack of torque.

My thoughts are all mixed up again. There is currently a JDM Spec MR2 on ebay for 4 days and for 3000 Euro. And if its gone, would a N/A MR2 maybe also be enough for my use?
Or should i follow the advice of my friends and still get the EJ2 and put in a GSR like you guys said, or just B16?
Geez, i need a few days to think about this before i make a decision.
But thanks for the responses so far!

Avoid the MR2. The NA model is slow and sluggish, and both models have zero practicality.

For me I want a EG hatch. I have kids. I love the back seats in a car that weighs 2200lb has about 170 hp, 205mm size tires. That is a LOT of tire for its weight. The engine is sooooo easy to get to. ( not like a mr2, rx7, sti/wrx ).

If you want easy to work on/tons of parts/ best handling car in the world, more reliable than a honda I would get a miata. With the miata you can't just drop in a 170 hp engine and be smog legal. So, if you want speed you are going to have to spend money for power. Or get a S2000 and be done

Miata also has the same lack of functionality problem that an MR2 has. At least it has a trunk, though.

Ok, now i made up my mind.
Gonna get the EJ2, or an EJ1(depending on which cars i find).
All the previous goals are gone and now i really just want a daily car without huge performance, so i wont do a b-swap, neither a turbobuild.
But i still want to get a bit more out of the engine than stock.

My question now is, how much can you get out of the D15B7 or the D16Z6 by spending ~1000EUR.
I would already have an Z6 Header for the D15B7 to do an Mini-me swap.
But the question is, how much money can you put into a D without being an idiot, who didnt do a B-swap?

Any money put into a single cam that isnt focus entirely on boosting it...would be an idiot move.

mini-me's are a complete waste of time. Save up the cash once you have the car, swap a b or better. Unless you wanna boost the single
