Default D2 6pot 286mm big brakes fitted

Hi,

I was contacted by D2 to see if i wanted to be a dealer for their brake kits and they offered me a sample kit at a great price so i thought i would try them out.

I used to run Rover MG ZS-180 282mm front discs with Prelude caliper and Project Mu HC+ pads and never had any issues with them on road or track. Tried other pads but these are the damage with no fade on track so far! Only let down by hoses or fluid. Last time out on track i melted my valve cap!

This kit is for a 15" wheel and im running Racing Sparcos and needed wheel spacers.

So far still bedding them in but really impressed with the kit, contents and instructions that all came with it.

I chose the Race pad option since i occasionally take the car on track.

Will let people know how they get on.

that is amazing, love it. I didnt think you would be able to fit 15's over that. That makes my jaw drop.

Looks like a nice kit. TIGHT squeeze in there. I'd assume that a 16" would be ideal for this kit as a lot of other 15's wouldn't have the same spacing.

It looks like the wheels have nicked the caliper already, possibly?

The 16" kit is uses a 304mm disc but would be easier to fit over these than a 15" wheel.

The wheel has only caught the caliper when i was test fitting everything and the finish is easily marked so got scraped when i was installing too

maybe bump up the spacer size a few mm just to avoid getting debris stick in there, it can destroy the face of the claiper

Question! Why do you have a piece of wrap covering your tie rod ball joint?

I bought these from D2 direct as Private Imports (my company - http://www.privateimports.co.uk) was going to be the UK dealer for the brake kits. Another company managed to secure the deal before us though! Me and John F on here still managed to get kits as a sample for our own cars at trade price though but im not permitted to disclose the figures

To buy try contacting them here - http://www.d2racing.com - although it looks like they only sell the suspension kits.

If you have no luck contact Amy @ D2 Head Office in Taiwan. She is very helpful - amy@d2racingsport.com

Remember to mention Private Imports :D

I never took pics of the mount but you can see it here - http://www.d2racingsport.com/brake_286.htm

The heat wrap is to protect the joint. I also have heat wrap on the bottom ball joint as it protects them from the mega heat thats put into them from the brakes whilst on track. If the temps i get up to can melt my valve caps then think of the heat around the joints. Makes sense to me.

B serious - You can specify PCD when you order.

So far they are really working out well for me. I was actually looking for a larger brake kit and this opportunity came up. The radial mount design is something i was wanting but i wanted to use a 15" wheel so had little options than full custom setup which would have been about 3 times the cost.

At the same time i fitted these i put UK Civic Sport MB6 rear discs and calipers on to give me about 260mm. Same caliper as 98spec ITR and correct PCD. Just needed to mod the carrier to fit. Easy.

The cars stops so fast now but the real testing will be on track. Next time im out is the 28th so see what happens. Im expecting the pads to not work at high temp although they are the Race pads. See what happens though.
