Default D17 tranny to D16Y8

Is this possible?

Also, what is the advantage of this tranny over Z6 or Y8 if this is possible?

Thanks!

did you mean D16 tranny in your title?

well the difference between the two, are the shift forks.
D16Z6 transmission uses aluminum shift forks (weaker).
D16Y8 transmission uses steel shift forks (stronger).

which makes the Y8 the better between the two. the gear ratios are practically identical.
the Y8 is the best D-series tranny.

you need to keep what ever rear tranny mount that came out of the car, y8 tranny mount wont work in a 92-95 civic, and vise versa

BTW, this is for a 99 EJ8. So the tranny mounts are identical?
