Well first of all, your civic is OBD1.
And that motor is OBD2.. so you'll have an issue with the ECU.

When we put my LS in (see sig.) we did this:
Basically, from the firewall to the ecu it is OBD1 being run by a 95'LS ecu.
But the engine part of the harness is still OBD2.

As for mounting it....if its still the D-series I think It'll "bolt-up".
But im not 100%.

i really dont think so cus the d17 motors from my understanding dont have distributors. they run coilpacks or sumshit. i know there was a guy on here trying to fit a y8 head onto a d17 block but i dont know how that went

yeah you are correct, are you sure the engine is not out of a 01??? If it is a D17 there is alot of differences ECU, axles, subframe, and I am sure alot more. If you are going to go to all of that trouble just swap in a B

i knew that the d17 didnt use a distributor....but i figured it would be a complete bolt-in like anyother d-series engine, my advice, just get another z6....they have the same specs right?

if you're looking for performance, there isn't a lot yet for the D17's. unless you want to go turbo or something.
though companies are starting to make some good parts, internals and intake manifolds. they have been around, but the internals and intake manifolds that were being made were not that great. hopefully they will make some good stuff now that it is under more development.

I have an 03 ex. the power depends on what model it came from. the ex has 125hp, 114tq. the lx is 117hp,110tq?, and it goes down from there. The d17 wasn't made until 2001 and it uses 4 coilpacks for ignition....no distributor. the d17 also uses a returnless fuel system and will not work with the fuel system from your car. Why would you want to go to all that trouble anyway. just put a B-series in it. much easier swap. Don't try to put that d17 in, pain in the ***. a k20 would be easier, but not as easy as a b16 swap cause they made obd1 b16's which would work pretty good in your situation.

or he could just get another z6 and build it, and turbo it, cheaper than most b-series swaps

For the work, its pointless, the D17 is **** man. Keep the Z6, as its more powerful, and the D17 is just weak, specially if its the non-vtec 115hp from a civic LX. Talk to people that have taken it apart.

Your power ratings are off a little. Why wouldn't he want to go through the trouble? Reminds me of that guy that said it's impossible and just too much work to bother swapping a K series into EG's.
