Re: d16z6 - what fits what doesn't for increasing hp?
Linked pretty much summed it up.
Many people on this forum will be glad to tell you a SOHC is a waste of time unless you're bolting on a turbocharger.
I'm not sure why you're so concerned with fitment. The parts market for our cars is larger than probably any other car maker out there.
Turbos fit wonderfully.
Edit: To reassure you, if you were thinking of doing an intake, header, etc to bump up your horsepower, don't waste your money. Your car will feel faster, but it wont be. Many of these products will simply shift your powerband. You'll lose power in the mid range and put it at the top end.

I got a d16z6 too. Don't waste time on upgrades for it. Save your money and invest in a B-series motor. Can never go wrong with that. plus you can find a lot more performance parts and go faster with a B-series opposed to modifying a SOHC. Don't get me wrong, I love my engine to death but the B-series is where its at. IMO

OP. Swap or build/ boost.

Not this again
Basic bolt ons wont really do much, if anything, but they are a start and good to have with other mods.
Manly internals, starting looking at cams,ecu's/tuning, turbo etc.
Single's are great little motors, but unless built/turbo they cant really play with B series engines and win.
But if this turns into a D vs B series thing, it will likely got locked in a hurry.

I know a guy who bolted a jackson supercharger on his z6 w/ good results. But then you are spending as much as a new motor, plus there will be some tuning involved..

None of this stuff is cheap. I feel bad for all the people who waste hundreds on little bolt on parts thinking their car is going to be so much faster. Especially AEM cam gears, fuel rails, DC sports/ebay headers, short ram intakes, etc. Often times it feels faster but it's not. All you did was rob power from the low end and move it to the top end of the powerband.
Plain and simple, do it right the first time. Turbo or add displacement via a swap. If you're going to go through the hassle of a swap, might as well do it right and get a good swap. Save up for a few more months and get an engine you'll be a lot happier with in the long run.

boost is about all that fits on a D. or tons of money and bisi's personal number.
otherwise swap. and no b16s you won't be happy from what you have to what you'd get.
your phone will fit the z6 if its a vtech.

get off bisi's nuts but yeah like every 1 else said spend $15,000 on building a b-series rather than spend $600 on bolt ons (I/H/E)

Here's some dyno charts for a relatively stock D16Z6 vs one with the best bolt on's money can buy (relatively speaking as there is slight overbore, compression bump, and ported head). One is 108 and the other is about 146. I'm not arguing for either side, its your car but if you are looking for a good amount of power for cheap, it just ain't there.
