Default d16z6 vtec

i need to know when my vtec is suppose to kick in?i have a d16z6, is it suppose to be pretty loud like the b series motor?

it kicks in at 5500 or 5800, i forget which one.

and vtec on a d series is nothing like a B....you wont feel it or hear it unless you have some type of forced induction or atleast a cam and intake you can probably hear it

d16z6 kicks in at 5500....i have intake and exhaust and can barely hear it kick in....

My vtec kicks in at 5500 and its loud as hell for a z6, I was suprised when i heard it cause everyone was all ways telling me ohh you cant hear it at all. And JDmLub your right nothing like the sound of vtec on a b16

is it true that sohc vtec only opens the exhasut valves all teh way and the intake are open fully the whole time?

i could have sworn vtec engagement was at a cool 4800 on a d16z6. And no, single cam vtec sounds nothing like dohc. much quieter and less noticeable.

VTEC only works on the intake side of the valves. Thats why its not as loud. B series open both intake and exhaust valves thats why its so much louder. I dont know when it kicks because I rarely use VTEC.

vtec @ 5500
real vtec is when you swap. although an open downpipe with a boosted sohc and you'll hear it....real quick though

do you guys know why my z6 makes a deep ticking noise when i get to two thousand rpm?. i stops at like 2300 and its not real loud its just like a ticking noise. i was told thats where the vtec kicks in was at 2200 but i dunno. let me know what you think that ticking is....thanks

sohc vtec is at 4800-5300 depending on conditions.. mine is always at 5000
