Re: D16z6 vs. D16y8 (shiftgear8000)
The main difference is that your car is OBD1 and the engine you bought is either OBD2a or OBD2b. Other than that they both have the same HP and TQ numbers.
I hope you got the harness and ecu to go with the motor.

Re: (HXvtec)
Oh well......guess I got it, so now I gotta work with it. I'm sure the OBD-1 harness and P28 will work just fine.......I mean, my B20/VTEC worked w/ an odb1 ex harness and OBD1 P30.
As for the head, it's getting sent to get a nice port/polish while I do the block up for my turbo kit.

it wont work fine. Cause there are some extra plugs and sensors on that motor. There is 2 oxygen sensors. Also a sensor in the intake.the dizzy is different, and also some others. Just get the jumper harness and you will be fine.

The 2 oxygen sensors are in the header and one after the catalytic converter. The y8 exhaust manifold would fit fine on ur catalytic converter rite now so you wont need to have a second oxygen sensor. For the distributor part if u can find a used DX distributor it'll fit fine w/ the y8 head knowing this from first hand experience cuz thats the distributor i used for my mini me head swap when i put a y8 head on a dx block.

Re: (simplypinoyy)
Well, I did get the dizzy w/ the motor, so that's not a problem......and I have an OBD1 p28 and harness.....I don't beleive that motor needs a knock sensor. If I'm right, I beleive the GS-R was the only car to come w/ a knock sensor. Oh well, I'm sure it will work out alright

just re-use ur old harness, only use sensors that ur car needs, ur gonna need those sensors if ur obd2( cfk, knock, o2) obd1 dont need those sensors, as far as the dizzy goes, just color match the wires

i dont know about y8's having an oil consumption problem but I've heard alot that the oil pump for the y8 flows less than the z6, w/ jacked up motors after being raced a bit being the result.

Better tranny?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Hiding oil????
The Y8 tranny is better because it has steel shift forks instead of aluminum ones that are prone to breaking.

Re: (VtecAddict96)
uhm.. if theres more sensors on the obd2 motor then the obd1, but since your using the obd1 ecu and program, you can just re-use the obd1 harness.... only problem might be.. is the timing my friend has a 95 sohc vtec block with a 99 obd2 sohc head, with the timing right on he has to switch his firing order around which is retarted but it works that way. it may not start right up.... but then again im not a single cam man
