i have a d16 in my garage and i was either gonna swap it and turbo it . or sell it and save up for a b16 and just put I/E/H .

what do you think ?what, (in the long run) would be more practicle ?

im gonna use this car as my DD ... and i go on alot road trips . so i need somthing that wont die on me in the middle of the road .

With a B16, you can still have fun and rev it out. A turbo-D, even though I'm a fan and that's what I'm doing, wastes gas. And like he said, you're gonna wanna up the boost. I/H/E is fine on a B.

Coming from someone who's driven both several times and owned an NA b16a and about to own a turbo z6....I got to say, for the money go turbo D if you like power and torque.
Lets say you pay a shop to get and install a b16a into your car whatever it is - 3000-3500
replace all the pumps/belts - 300-400
so already your looking at close to 3500 minimum for a stock b16a installed into your car(if you can do all the work yourself, subtract about 750-1000)

now for a turbo d16z6:
You've already got the motor - 0
rods/pistons - 500-700
zex 59300 cam- 150-225(depending if you buy it new or lightly used)
ARP headstuds - 100
piece together a good/quality turbo kit(no ebay crap) 1500-2000(maybe a little cheaper if you can get package deals on stuff)
tuning- 200-400(if you go with crome pro, hondata, greddy & AEM are much more expensive)

so for a max cost of the turbo D about the same as the minimum as a stock B16 if you do a swap. you can have a very reliable 250+whp setup vs about 135whp of a stock b16a

I owned a b16a swaped EG hatch and was initially getting slaughtered by similar cars with built up turbo Ds, it was incredibly fun compared to the stock d15b7 that came in the hatch originally...about 2K in mods later I was still making only 160whp and 110ft/lbs & getting beat at the track by most of the turbo Ds there. with a turbo D on a budget initially of 1500 I should be pushing 175 whp and 140-160 ft/lbs(I will be upgrading the internals later and upping the boost o get about 225-250whp).

Also consider that replacement parts for the d16 are MUCH cheaper than the same part for a B16, and if you some how blow the B16a you have to spend about 1000-1500 to get a shortblock, for like 400 you can get a complete d16z6 change over

just get an economy tune to use for road trips... a turbo D on a good economy tune will get great gas mileage... well pretty damn good anyway...
