D16z6 shuts down, fine with no MAP
Okay, so we swapped a D16z6 in place of a D15b7. Donor car 93, swap car 94. Used a chipped P06. Ran VTEC wires. At low RPM/idle the car will shut down unless the throttle is feathered. If the MAP sensor is unplugged, the car idles fine, and revs fine. Swapped the MAP from the D15 over to the D16, and the results were the same. I have checked every where I know to check for vac leaks.

How did you swap maps? Did you have the ecu modified?
It sounds like one of the wires to the sensor is frayed or broken and is grounding somewhere. If you wanna do it the long/complicated way, follow the wiring back to the ecu and check for loose pins, breaks, or frays.
Or just run new wires straight from the map to the ecu.

I will try new wires for the MAP sensor, but tonight is track night. It's a little 440 car. We will see how she does with the MAP unplugged.

I thought you were talking about the fuel map programmed into the ecu. Anyway, sensor is bad or the wiring is bad. I had to run a stock p06 on a d16y8 for a couple weeks while my p28 was being socketed/chipped...ran fine just had a lot less power...

Okay, a little time yesterday, and here's what we know:
Remove MAP sensor completely, from vehicle. Car starts, idles, runs. Plug vacuum in top of intake (where MAP goes) and car starts, runs, and idles. The idle does change of course, but it still idles. Remove MAP sensor oring and reinstall MAP, car idles poorly and shuts down occasionally. Reinstall MAP sensor oring and car shuts down completely unless you continue to give it gas. Engine has NO power at all. The D15 was faster.
If we disconnect the signal wire from the MAP sensor, the engine idles fine. Both signal and ref wires have around 5v, and the signal wires' voltage drops with vac applied as it should.
Straight wired MAP to ECU, but no changes.
The P06 ECU that we are using IS chipped, I opened it up and confirmed. It's an SST chip. I know someone already mentioned that it may still not have the correct fuel map(s) for what we're doing, but the ECU was chipped to run a single cam vtec motor, anyone out there got a real P28?

Yeah I had checked that already. Took a closer look, and it appears that the "chip" may have been installed backwards. If the vehicle was started this way, could the ECU have been damaged? The socket? The chip?

Sorry but i'm new here and seems like asking questions more than answering. Finding this very thread is like finding a needle on a haystack.. Anyway, I have a 95 civic dx with a d16y7 swap, but i snapped the rods that's why i'm swapping it into a d16z6. The d16z6 is from a 95 ex auto. Would this be compatible to my manual dx? Can i use my stock ecu, harness?? What else do i need for this swap?
Any help would be appreciated

You need to just make it work with the correct ECU, distributor and wiring. Your distributor won't bolt up correctly to the Z6. It won't run optimally with your ECU because the engine is designed to be ran with an ECU that will activate VTEC. Your best bet: 1.Get a P28 ECU, 2. Either use an EX/Si wiring harness and plug and play or use your harness and wire up VTEC solenoid and pressure switch, 3. Get a Z6 Distributor.
