you should find a y8 fork cause i know they are made alot stronger than the z6. and it is possible to break the z6 fork, so if i were you, id find another y8. im sorry i know that doesnt answer your question.

For some reason I am going to say no..I cannot explain why, but do remember reading something about this not long ago. While they are the same tranny (basically), the forks are made of different materials

no they are not interchangeable,I remember reading a while back that although the tranny gear ratios are the same, some of the inerds and such are not and it will not work. Don't quote me on that but I did read it. I would stay on the safe side and get a y8 one plus if you can get a z6 shift fork, why can't you find a y8 one?

I allways thought they were but they were made out of different material, Is that why your saying there not interchangable?

That is correct. BauleyCivic tried it a while back in one of the 50 times that he tore his tranny down and it won't work.

Ok, cause i allways thought that they were the same size and all but one was made stronger then the other, which is why ppl wanted the z6 one.

z6= aluminum so it breaks
y8= stamped steel so it bends before it snaps

People want the y8 one because when it gets torn up its not a catasrophic failure like with the z6.

Ok, thanks guys for that question. I posted another question, but someone locked it. It was about the "clutch release fork". Clutch release fork and shifter forks are two totally different things. So is the clutch release fork interchangable between the d16z6 and d16y8?
