D16Z6 runnin a little bit rich.. anyone else?
this question might've been answered but i searched and a lot of people that had their cars runnin rich were a lot more modded then mine, all i have is header and exhaust right now. My car doesn't stutter or anything but the muffler is extremely black inside of it. I reset my ECU not too long ago but i'm not sure why it'd be runnin rich? Anyone else have the same problem?

mines rich too, most stock US ECU's will run rich for safety reasons. Honda didn't wnat motors to run too lean b/c most people will drive their cars like *** & use cheap gas....

OK, so all of the Honda's I've ever owned have been lemons? Crap, I better sell my EG & RSX b/c there is carbon in the tail pipes for both. Crap, crap, crap. lol

Re: (Donkey85)
My old D16Z6 ran really rich, moslty because of the Apexi GT-Spec Exhaust, but i changed the 02 sensor and it made a BIG difference, still cant expect to much but try the sensor, it will probably help....
Good luck

My muffler bearings were acting up once and I had to bleed them out, but I did it wrong so I get this titanium oxide buildup on the exhaust tip every now and then because of it.

OK, now I am going to do something a little out of the norm for H-T. I am actually going to try and help this guy out.
If you don't like what I am said, ******* blow me alright, bitches.
Do you know how to read spark plugs? When I first heard it I was like"WTF?" No seriously, if you have no other way of determining you A/F ratio, you can use a new set of plugs to see if you are running rich or not.
I won't post the procedure unless you want me too, I suck at typing so I will only post long things if I absolutely have to.
Peace,

what is reading his plugs going to change? the ecu will still run rich, he needs an EMS to change that.

OK, Mr. "I lowered my car, so I know everything",
I believe that j0nptw was a little concerned that his/her engine was running too rich. So instead of telling the person to go and start leaning out the mixture or replacing this and that I would help try and determine whether or not it was truelly running rich.
As for how many posts I have, lick my left nut. I generalized just as you have. sue me.
I want to help, but most of the **** I read here is 70% "We already posted that" or "Can't you use the ******* search function?"
***-hat.

Re: (FizzGiGG)
I can understand wnating to help, but I personally don't see the sense in trying to read the plugs at this point. Most of us agree that the stock P28 runs rich anyhow, so it appears to be normal. Also, based on typical Honda methods, and historical information, the average US Honda ECU is programmed rich from the factory for safty reasons, so this again leads me to believe it's normal. The initial poster has not listed any significant mods such as nitrous, or boost that would cause me to worry about plug reading, etc. So, IMO, it's not needed. If they feel that they would like to take the extra precaution of reading plugs, just to verify that the black smoke coming out of the tail pipe, is indeed black, then by all means, have fun.

Duh there is going to be "a little carbon" but not to the point of being extreme, like this post IS about. So 1.) You are the "retard" that cant read. or 2.) your should sell your lemons.
