most likely it has a bunch of clips all over the place that has it stuck.. u need to disconnect all the sensor connectors which should b the map, tps, iacv, egr solenoid valve, intake manifold temp sensor, fan switch from the thermostat housing, collant temp sensor from the head, the vss, o2, and back up light switch, i think im missing one but thats it for the most part bro..make sure that all the clips are off or else the harness isnt gona come out.

yeah, thanks for that but ive unclipped all them. its just when i get to the firewall really, because i need the ecu to run and tune. before it goes through the firewall towords the engine bay it splits... some wires go towards the door and some towards the drivers side... the rest through the wall (mines right hand drive by the way)
how do i split it to what i need? im probly being really dumb here, but i think i must be missing something

i get what ur talking about.. not the engine harness but the dashboard harness. hmmm.. im not sure dude. my best advice would b to remove the entire dashboard cuz i know that most of the wires r connected to ac functions inside the dash so that would b my guess. sorry if i dont help

You have to pretty much strip at least the front half of the car to get that harness out, and I mean strip. It would be easier IMO if you are tuning the engine out of the car to get a '96 - '00 civic engine harness which is one piece, get a jumper harness and cut and splice OBD1 connectors on for the alternator and distributor.

why??

if your just looking to put a motor on an engine dyno, your best bet would be an aftermarket or homemade wiring harness tailored to your equipment.

are you trying to use the civic ignition and stuff? if so you'll need damn near everything out of the front half of the car.... and just using the engine bay harness and trying to match wires to some aftermarket **** on your engine dyno is gonna be a headache you don't want.

which brings me to this... if you can't figure this out, or how to get the harness out, what the hell are you doing trying to tune a motor??

again why??

ha... good question... but i will have help setting the engine up on a dynamometer. I am doing it for a university project. I was going to wire up a motec system but they said i would have to buy a motec 400 which i dont think i really wanna pay out for..... i just need the wires what will run the engine! So if i just cut the ones going to the dash, will that be okay or will it [freak] everything else up??
