d16z6 No PCV Valve?
I was working on my car over the weekend and i noticed that i dont have a PCV valve? I just picked up my eg a few weeks ago from some kid who was selling it, i dont know if he was the one that took the PCV valve out or not...
Anyway, the vac line goes from the IM, THRU THE HOLE WHERE THE PCV VALVE WOULD GO, then down to its place in the little canister next to the oil filter.
Im going to replace it, of course, but since it does have one, would that cause an irratic idle? I know it would have to cause something, right?

put one in there, it should be in there for a reason.
eratic idle, no, just may smoke at times.
And if it ever backfires it will go up in a ball of flames.

I havent driven the car since last weekend, so i plan on fixing the remaning idle/fuel problems before this coming weekend is over.

UPDATE:
I noticed that there is a PCV valve on the car, its just not mounted on the factory hole in the IM. It looks like the previous owner ran a long vac line from the IM, down thru the hole for PCV, then to the canister that connects to the block. The PCV valve is plugged into that black canister with the vac line coming upward.
Anyways, i noticed that i dont have a Purge Cut Solenoid, which is fine. My question is, when i block off this nipple on the IM, my car dies, or it will idle so low, its not tolerable(100-200rpm).
If i remove the charcoal canister COMPLETELY, and the three vac lines that go to it, would everything be fine? Assuming i plugged up all three holes on the IM.

Re: d16z6 No PCV Valve?
the intake manifold mount is simply there for easier access, below that point is usualy a little hose that runs it down to the cansiter on the rear of the block. So same stuff, but slightly different look. Likely that they had some sort of catch can setup.
set the idle speed via the idle speed adjustment screw on the throttle body, with the IACV disconnected.
Cansister lines... the line that runs to the rear of the car (inlet from tank) place an inline filter on it and tie it out of the way. The other two can be capped.

-Replace #'s 4 and 5 with just a single long vac line.
-Unless i have a "straight PCV valve", then i dont have one at all.
-It looks like that big vac line connects from the IM nipple to #2, then goes into the canister.

Anyway, is there a diagram showing where all three vac lines coming from the charcoal canister? Also, where they are routed?

Re: d16z6 No PCV Valve?
keep in mind that 2/15 is not a PCV, only an adapter that sort of looks like one.
44 - from tank that needs an inline filter
45 - to EVAP then to IM, plug at IM
18 - vent, not needed

Re: d16z6 No PCV Valve?
Number 44, if i remove the charcoal canister all together, i would just put a filter at the end of the vac line and hide it? (the vac line that runs from gas tank TO canister, would just be chillin somewhere hidden with a filter at the end of it?)

Re: d16z6 No PCV Valve?
#44 is not really a vacuum line, it's the vent for the tank to vent the fuel vapors, to later be sucked into the IM when cruising.
The inline filter prevents a full tank from slopping out fuel under heavy braking.
I made a bracket to hold the filter in the old canister location.
(be sure it mounted so the open end is higher than the inlet from the tank)
