OK .. basically i have a 1990 Civic Si 3dr, full OBD1 conversion, and a D16z6. I had a aftermarket cam pulley before witch made my problems much easier. So my problem is i DO NOT have the Po8 cover for the head. " the 1 with the TDC marks on it " .. I have this feeling im a tooth or two off. .. I would like if some one could tell me if there is a differance in marks. so basicly there are 3 marks on the cam . 3 o clock . 9 o clock . and 7 o clock . In my book it shows the standard 1.5 and 1.6 to just use 3 and 9 o clock to be square with the head. NOW on the Vtec,s it almost looks as if it a tooth or 2 advanced. Ill try and get some pics of what im dealing with. A refrence pic of another D16z6 at TDC with were the cam comes to rest. I beleve that the 3 and 9 o clock do not rest square across the head like the standard 1.5 and 1.6s do .. PLZ HELP .. brand new motor and dont wana mess it up.

Sorry for the size .. anyway you can see there is no cover .. i just wana know if someone else with a Z6 can show me a pic so i can see if i need to advance or not. That pic is with motor at TDC. It runs but idels high.

is your crank also at tdc? i'd take a pic of mine but i'm actually running a z6 block with a y8 head. my marks do line up tho. i have a spare z6 cam somewhere but i'm sure you don't wanna see that.

Hey .. what you have is great ... the Y8 and Z6 are basicly same thing.. i would much appreciate it if i could maby get a pic of your TDC on cam .. i need the 3 and 9 clock refrence .. i dont think they come square with the head .. maby they do .. im not sure . thanks for the reply

my y8 cam lines up perfectly to the head and i have the lovely feature of having "UP" etched in the cam gear. don't think the z6 did.

yes .. i have " UP " scribed on my gear . and yours is flat across the top huu. OK then .. yea this 1 tooth jump didnt work. and my timing light is not working ...

My old Z6 and any other that I have seen also have UP scribed on the cam gear.

Epichondagod: if you line up the cam gear does your crank gear line up to the mark on the tb cover?

Yes .. im not that slow. my main problem is i do not have that stupid Po8 cover that goes behind the cam that has the marks im looking for . Also i have a D16y8 intake mani, and gsr throttle body. now before i dont remember having this stupid idle problem but i think im onto what that issue is. any way .. heres a few pics

Yes i know .. the crank pulley pic looks a little off. my bad .. but yea .. this is all no where new to me .. was just hopeing to get another refrence pic of someone elses Z6 on TDC " cam " to i can kinda see if i need to jump a tooth or not .. keep in mind its just the 1 cover im missing that goes behind the cam gear.

I thought i would just mention that a buddy of mine had a Z6 stashed in his back yard and i was able to score the WHOLE cover set from him. So i thank those of you that were assisting me with my issue. ill see if the cam lines up exactly where i had it before for those that may run into the same issue as me. As of now i have alot of wiring to trace because i believe i have some major loop issues. I will start a new thread on what i have going on and this may help others too. So for now alot to get done.
