Default D16z6 major problems

well, after we did a D16z6 swap, things were great, until the headgasket was leaking oil.. turns out the headbolts werent torqued right.

I replaced the headgasket and bolts, hooked everything back up, i can feel the car have a bit more power than it used to, but now its leaking coolant somewhere, from which i cannot see, and it leaks a decent amount, to where the car almost overheats. The CEL comes on, and just before start-up, it flashes once long.

most likely your head is warped. you NEED to have it resurfaces EVERYTIME. I can almost bet that's your problem. Yea it can cost up to $100 bucks but it always worth it. I've changed plenty of civic head gaskets and not once i haven't had the head resurfaced and pressure testing it ensures that your valve seals aren't leaking which can cause oil loss.

woww, honda makes cheap parts i guess lol.. i never had to do that with my Stealth's cylinder heads.

so if i resurface the cylinder head, what about the surface on the engine block?

i suggest using 600-800 grit sand paper on the block though, don't sand alot just enough to remove all the build up. Scraping the block really good with a razor blade wouldn't hurt either. just remember to use a new clean cloth to wipe everything down before installing the new head gasket, and torquing the head down is a 2 step process do exactly as it tell you in the book and there shouldn't be any problems.

If theres ever a head gasket problem with any car, the odds of having the head warped are fairly high, even if you may think its not.
