D16Z6 Head/Swap Question
I have a 95 ex D16Z6 I want to put in a Comp Cam 59300 with Titanium springs and retainers, as well as a new Skunk2 cam gear. Should I reseat the valves and put in new gaskets at a machine shop or can I just put everything in the head the way it is now?
My other option is to put in an LS swap into my car. It is going to cost around the same as the head work just a little more I have a good price on the LS set up. But I see it as if I spend the $ to put in the LS it is only going to give me 10 extra Hp and some extra torque. If I work the head I should have around 160 with my V2 intake, fully greddy exhaust, and tuning my engine on a dyno and lower my vtec enguagment point. Anyone have an opion on what they would do. Thanks

Re: D16Z6 Head/Swap Question (95_SOHC)
Im pretty sure the stock LS swap will overpower the d16z6 with 59300 cam. If they are equal in price, get the b18b.

yeah i'd say go for the Ls if u can do it for the same price..... it will be faster with the Ls plus you will actually have some torque......

I've seen dynos of basically stock LS's with bolt-ons producing about 128 whp/118 wtq and the Z6 with bolt-ons and Zex cam making about 126whp/110wtq - then there's the weight and cost difference. So, overall FOR THIS CONFIG, a stock LS with no bolt-ons will be down on output or equal to a Z6 with the 59300. Oh yeah, and the z6 weighs less.....so it should be faster. If you can get it as the same price as the cam, get the swap. If it's more, stick with the D.
