D16z6 to D16z6
I tried searching and came up with nothing. My motor is knocking like crazy and im at 185k so I am thinking of just throwing in a used d16 with less miles. How hard would it be? What would I need to consider that I may not be thinking of. Thanks for all help, sorry I am such a noob.

Depends on your skill level.
For a complete novice it might take a couple days or even a week.
For someone who does it for a living, it could take a couple hours.
It shouldn't be too big a task, just take your time.

If ur engine has a rod knockin & ur on a budget, then yes, id take that route. If your swapin the same engine then it should be bolt for bolt. good luck man.

What should I expect to pay for a used engine? What mileage range should I try to stay in? Where should I try to find one?
Sorry I have so many questions. Just seems like the best place to ask all my questions.
I R NEWB.

I wouldn't pay over $400 for a used d16z6. As far as finding one, look at your local junkyard or on the marketplace in your region.

Re: (fryguy190)
also keep all your stuff. keep your tranny and mounts and and dizzy. you can get just the longblock without the extras (tranny, dizzy, wires, intake mani, linkage, etc...) for 200 or less in the marketplace. as stated try to get one that is in a car so you know it runs. should be relatively easy. look for a low mileage example. or get a d15b. very similar to the z6 and will also be a bolt in. those are JDM motors so most are really low mileage.

if you already have the rest of the equipment you need then why would you get double it? best cheapest option is to go longblock.

The D15b wont be a direct bolt for bolt swap. If you want a cost effective and easy solution get a decent block and swap your stuff over. That will be a drop and plug in situation.
