D16Z6 Crank but no start
Hey HT,
I have a problem with my 95 civic cx Hatch. It has a D16Z6 motor, and currently its only cranking but not starting. Prior to this issue I took off my dizzy cap and rotor but not the inner cover, and like an idiot i left it in the engine bay for about a month or so. So after verifying the timing, main relay, fuel and spark via the old screwdriver + spark wire 1 to ground. It produced a very weak spark. So instead just buy spare dizzy parts, i bought a re-manufactured one from advance auto, along with NGK blue wires, and denso iridium spark plugs. I installed the dizzy with the old rotor and cap, and installed the wires and plugs (although i did not gap them). and still no start it just cranks.
So far I've had the new, dizzy, plugs, wires, timing. I also took my battery to a shop to be fully charged and still no kick. I seriously think that there might be a problem with the firing order of the dizzy.
on the cylinder head when standing in front of the car the order is
4--3--2--1
but there was a myriad of answers for what the order is on the dizzy.
so far i have it set up

13
but i've seen ones like the following
13
24
23
14
32

I mean you get the picture
I was wondering what the correct installation order is (WITH A PICTURE IS PREFERABLE ) and or other reasons why my motor doesn't start. Oh and the ground for the thermostat and on that connects the head to the frame of the body toward the radiator is connected.
PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU SOO MUCH!

Re: D16Z6 Crank but no start
Check the main relay. But there are only 3 things needed to make an engine start/ run: fuel, spark, air. Verify fuel pressure is good/ there, air shouldn't be an issue as long as your air filter/ intake isn't clogged, and spark is good. But civics are notorious for the main relay going out. My '95 coupe had the same exact issue and turned out it was he main relay.

Have you verified that you're getting fuel? Turn the key all the way forward but DO NOT start cranking the motor yet. Do you hear the fuel pump priming? I had a similar issue but my culprit wound up being a hole burnt in the rotor. Give me a sec and I'll post the link to my thread a few months back. Hopefully that will help.
*edit* If you have come to the conclusion that it is ignition related, then follow the steps in this thread. This covers every part of the distributor that you can troubleshoot.

Re: D16Z6 Crank but no start
Same problem here, my car just crank but didnt start
It only turn on on gear but it died short after, i replace my fuel pump, main relay, spark plugs, fuel filter and nothing
According to my mechanic it has a shortage, ground problem.
