D16Z6 with a cough . help please
Hi
After my Sol has been standing for a few weeks, it starts great, runs well till it gets warmed up, plenty power, vtec works,, revs correctly.
When it reaches running temperature, it won't rev, tickling the gas pedal many times fast makes it rev a little, but coughs and stalls out, definately feels like its lost gas, difficult to restart and sets a code.
There is plenty fuel and pressure reaching the injectors.
Plugs are perfect, distributor swapped with a known good one.
I go to look for the code, and it's not there.
Start it up hot, the code is not there for a few seconds, then sets again.
Wait for it cool down and it runs fine again till it gets warm, then same thing.
Eventually if I drive it long enough it will fix itself and drive/start correctly till I let it stand for a week or more.

Code 5, turns out to be the MAP sensor, when I unplug it, it revs normally but keeps the code, I cleared the code, did same thing.
Strangest thing, at exactly the time the code sets, it starts to rev normally.
Damn those are one expensive sensor.

Pull it off and inspect. Who knows, if the MAP sensor or its throttle body port is clogged/dirty, cleaning them up might be the solution. Worth a try.

Ah ... you just got to love this place, first suggestion found the trouble source, second suggestion found the cause ... the ferkin' hole was clogged with a POS.

Nice fix.
If the MAP was nasty, then the IACV and FITV are likely the same. For a weekend project, you might want to clean those and the TB. Just a thought.
