D16Z6 Compression Test Results Too High?
Finally got around to doing a compression test on my 93 EX coupe w/265XXX miles. It's been slowly getting more and more sluggish as the miles roll on. No oil burning, just leaking slowly.
Anyways, my results for the compression are
210
205
207
210
Engine was warm, pulled all 4 plugs, removed ECU fuse, cranked over with the throttle wide open.
I couldn't find the specified amount in my Helms, but the Haynes manual says standard is 185psi. WTF? Is my gauge wrong? Could it really be that high?

Just thought of one more thing. I let it turn over 7 or 8 times on each cylinder, basically until the gauge settled out.
Did I do it wrong?

Sounds fine to me. Healthy engine IMO.
When I parted with my D16Z6 compression across the board were in the 160s and it still ran strong and used no oil. Its now happily thumping away in a 91 CRX Si.
Enjoy your engine and take care of it

High compression is most likely due to carbon deposits on the tops of the pistons, valves, and combustion chamber. 200 is still really good though, even if you were to clean all the carbon deposits out you'll still be in the high 100's. Also, like one guy said above the head could have been milled for a slight compression increase.

just becasue your gauge reads 200+, doesn't mean its really that high. some gauges read high some read low, depends on the gauge itself. the numbers would show a difference between cyl. that would show problems.
