Default d16z6 with chip ecu

i still have my stock p28 ecu for my d16z6 motor. i want it to go faster without turbo not fast but faster than it is. is it good to run a stock motor with a chip ecu? i haven't done anything internally only external such as cai.. so yea is it good to chip p28 with stock motor? people's opinion/answer is welcome.

There is no point trying to gain performance with a chipped ECU on a stock motor. If your car was turbocharged from the factory, it would be different (such as a 1.8T VW GTI or Jetta) because increasing the boost pressure and giving it more fuel would boost performance. But you have a naturally-aspirated 1.6L SOHC 4-cylinder...nothing much to gain. Honda ECUs are already pretty aggressive up top anyways.

because i don't want to turbo up a single vtec. plus i rather swap and turbo then turbo a single vtec.

Cams, pistons, IM, and your basic bolt ons then you'll need a tune. Don't expect to have an intake and have a chipped ecu and gain 10+ hp. Chipped ecu on a stock motor is just stupid.

Go to your local junkyard and hope to find a talon or eclipse turbo and just make your own set up.

Dood, you can achieve 180-190 whp safely with a turbo on a SOHC VTEC.

How much power are you trying to achieve? I mean, lets face it: you started this thread trying to chip your stock motor.

The big question is, how much faster do you want to go?
