D16Z6 in a 95 Civic CX - Will not spark/start - Need Suggestions
I have a 95 Civic CX that I removed a D15B8 engine from and replaced with a D16Z6. I read that the wiring harness needs to be updated from a 1-wire 02 sensor to a 4-wire 02 sensor, and Vtec wires need to be added.
When I went to check where I needed to add wires I noticed that all the wires needed seemed to already be there. All the wires on the ECU plugs were there and the engine's wiring harness came with the new engine so it also had the wires for the 4-wire O2 sensor. I checked my old engine and the surprising thing is that it also had a 4-wire O2 sensor. Could it be possible that I don't need to add any wires for the O2 sensor?
Also the only Check Engine Light codes that I get are:
21 VTEC spool solenoid valve
22 VTEC pressure valve
Which makes sense because I haven't even attempted to add the wires for VTEC.
The ECU is a P28 that was originally for an automatic, but I converted to a 5 speed based on the instructions on this site (remove resistors at RP17 and RP18, then add a jumper wire at RP18)
I am waiting on the correct intake tube (plastic tube that goes between the air filter box and the intake manifold). Right now I'm using the old intake which is a smaller diameter tube that I just have duct-taped to the intake manifold.
When I turn the key the engine turns over normally and I can smell fuel coming out of the exhaust but it will not start. I checked and I'm not getting a spark. I also checked the timing multiple times.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also if you happen to know of any skilled honda mechanics in boston let me know.

possibly the distributor is dead....since your cx motor was running at the time of removal take the cx distributor and open it up...and swap the internal parts into the z6 distributor..i did this with a EK...dx distributor parts into a b16 distributor and started right up....not sure if its the same for you but worth a try...another thing useful would be a test light to see if theres power going into the distributor itself..
