Re: d16z6
you could replace the block with a GSR bottom end then put a B16 head on top of that then just look for a B series tranny and bam your done :p hahah but seriously the only way to get some serious HP out of your d series is to do what "itsnotfast" said which is get some head studs bc the heads tend to lift with boost and then id get some forged pistons, rod bolts, a turbo kit and you should be set - the Z6 comes with a forged crankshaft from the factory already oh and your going to need a stronger clutch bc that stock D series clutch wont last with boost and dont forget to TUNE TUNE TUNE - biggest part of the build right there so dont skimp out on it!

Re: d16z6
you could do a full NA build which unless you get extremely serious about it i doubt youd even hit 180hp at the crank.
just a thought, you could cut 3ft out of the car behind the seats, weld the back half back on........that should lighten it up a couple hundred pounds. that would definitely help. or maybe bolt it onto a go-kart
seriously though to make a Z6 quick on any kind of sane budget........gotta go turbo.

Re: d16z6
the problem you run into there is after those(relatively cheap and easy) upgrades.......to continue with a N/A build its gonna get expensive on a SOHC and the gains are gonna be less per dollar than with say a B16 or B18.
bottom line is if you want a FAST car, its gonna be cheaper/easier to turbo the Z6 or do a swap. if you just want to liven it up some then the Z6 will work just fine.

Re: d16z6
does any1 have their d16z6 supercharged?? what about that setup instead of turbo
Visit the HT marketplace, buy secondhand parts (log-style manifolds and T25 turbos are plentiful), and I'm sure you'll have a quick setup for less than $1500 (+ tune, possibly [if it's more]).

I suppose the best you can do if you don't wanna venture into the forced induction world quite yet would be to do that (build your suspension), strip some pounds off your car (semi-strip your interior, lose spare tire, lighter battery, etc), and free up the little horsepower you'll get with your basic I/H/E + tune.
Good luck!

Re: d16z6
anyone ever heard of someone trying a variable nozzle or variable vane turbo on a honda? that would be the way to go if you can tune it right. almost no lag at all, but you still have the advantage of a largish turbo for big power numbers. and with that setup youd be able to put your power EXACTLY where you want it
