Default D16y8 VS. LS non-vtech

Ok i own a 98 civic ex coupe and my cousin owns a 91 acura integra LS coupe with a B18a,we recently drag raced and i smack that krap out of him, is that supposed to happen? I thought the LS motor has more HP than the D16? can someone clear this up for me please?

Your car is lighter, has a better power to weight ratio, better gearing, maybe better driver.

People think that HP is everything sometimes.

You have a weaker engine yes, but your car is lighter and has much better gearing. Your car is also 7 years younger, better technology and chances are, much less wear and tear on your engine than his.

well the obvious answer is you have vtec and he doesn't.

seriously, you probably are the better driver, and the weight difference does weigh the outcome in your favour

motors are close in hp. Plus your car is lighter. Basically at that point its just really up to driver.... If there was an ls in a civic though it would have beaten you.

regardless of why you won,I dont see why you would question it?

is this just a way of you braggin without being obvious?

personally when I beat something I dont expect to beat,i get excited and brag,I dont ask people..hmmm,I WONDER WHY I PULLED ON HIM....

Imo he probobly would beat you on the highway or in top end, my old tired *** DA would walk civic ex's all day but usually only from 40 mph and up, and it would leave a hell of a trail of smoke behind it too.

no it does not have better gearing

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SovXietday &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">People think that HP is everything sometimes.

no, the ls has shorter gears and a 4.266 final drive, d16z6's and d16y8's have a 4.25 final drive.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by dohcVTECeg2 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">weight difference

the gear ratios for an LS are nearly identical to the ex tranny.
