d16y8 V-afc install...
Can help me out with a link or any info on installing a vafc.
Or even better if someone that has installed a vafc on their "OBD2b" civic...can you tell me what wires to match up with what...
i already tried the apex site...the diagrams are too small...i can't see anything, and if i try to zoom in it just gets all blurry..

Heres a link with pinouts for honda ECU's:

If you want to start the car, just unplug the VAFC from the rest of the harness (if you have the whole harness). I wouldn't mess with it until you complete the install, and after you have, make sure you set it up properly before you start your car.

not necessarily, check your fuses.
thats why in the istallation kit they have male conn. and female conn. if you install it properly when you unplug it you can connect the factory wires together. When I transport my car throught the military I do this so no one can f with my stuff. I have a drawing I made myself that may help you. ill post it in a sec.

Re: (DruWO)
at the most you could have damaged you tps sensor, map sensor and v tec solinoid. I dont think you would have burnt the ecu.
you shouldnt have tried to start it untill you were done...never rush your car back on the street.
do you not have and installation manual? if not go to the site and download the instructions...you'll need it for the setup anyway.

if the tps,map sensors, and vtec solinoid got damaged the car would atleast start up.
the car cranks but doesn't start at all, and its not throwing any codes, i tried jumping the ecu and it didn't throw any CEL's so i do think i fried the ECU... i'mma try out my friends ECU later on today to make sure it is though..
thanks a lot.

Re: (m3dia_lab)
nope... it slipped my mind...that's how i know i fried it
i've gotten away with not disconnecting the ground before unplugging/plugging in the ECU, but i guess i didn't get lucky this time. lesson learned *ALWAYS disconnect the gound*....

i was installing a vafc on my d16z6 and i hooked up the power and ground and started the car, it fired my ecu and would not start, so i had to buy a new ecu and it worked. grab a friend with the same car or ecu and ask them to borrow it and plug it in and see if your car starts.

Shouldn't mess with things you know NOTHING about. If you don't know how it works or what you can damage, RESEARCH before you touch anything. If it's too far of a grasp for you to handle, take it to a professional.

So is it not safe to uninstall a vafc or something?
