Default D16Y8 T-Belt or Swap?

Hey, i got a 98 civic ex(EK D16Y8) and i got 80k on the car and its 5 years old so within the next 6 months to a year(i drive a lot) im gonna need a T-belt

I was thinking, for all the time and money invested into doing a T-Belt i might as well just do a swap... not sure if me n my friends are gonna do the swap/t-belt but also take into consideration if i decide to pay someone...

Feel free to add engines to swap to if youd like

It like 200-300 to change a timitng belt most places, if you get a motor swap who's to say that timing belt is good on the next motor, plus labor for a swap usually runs liek 2-300 and the motor would be like 5-600 if your wanting a low milage engine. Maybe im wrong i dunno but thats how it went for me when i ruined my crank.

man that has to be the dumbist thing ive ever herd , your gonna have to replace the timing belt on the swap too!!!!! a timing belt install at a garage will cost you around 400 , i think thats what honda charges . a swap will cost you at the cheapist 2500 - 3000 . you dont know about that motor your putting in your car , it could have been beatin to **** and your gonna trust the timing belt on it???? no no no . i know your a new user and all . but the timing belt to me is the most important part of the engine , when it goes , your motor goes......

ya i know but if i did a swap the motor would come with 35k-40k on it or atleast thats what ive seen advertised so i wouldnt have to do a tbelt for a while, plus i could build the engine up a bit before i put it in... and since im not so knowledgeable bout this stuff i could learn quite a bit by taking apart and rebuiling the engine since it wouldnt be a problem if it wasnt working for a couple days bc i wouldnt have to drive it...

Honda recommend you change timing belt after 60 months due to aging or 60-90K depending on how the car is drivin. You Dont know how old a wherehouse motor is, and all swaps recommend you replacing the water pump, timing belt and pulley belts, regardless of the milage.

A timing belt is 30 dollars...why the hell would you pay anyone hundreds of dollars to install it?

Read that and be done with it!
