d16y8 swap wont run right
I put through a d16y8 into a 1996 civic ex. I dont know much about hondas. I finally got it to start by turning the wires on the dizzy 180degres. It will start and run but not right. It is drivable, barely, and bogs down when you give it gas. I really dont know where to start. All help is appreciated. Thanks

Re: d16y8 swap wont run right
could be a ton of things.. did u make sure u had the timing marks on the block and the head right? also what kinda shape is the timing belt in..
also check the ignition coil in ure dizzy..
other things, did u use a fresh head gasket?
has thehead ure using ever run b4 the install?
u culda bent the valves a hair if the timing was wrong
how did u spin the dizzy 180 out there are mating groves on both the cam and dizzy to prevent that..

From what year Civic was the D16Y8 engine taken?
Any CEL codes?
The correct firing order of the plug wires on the distributor cap is shown in the diagram. The cylinders are ordered 4-3-2-1 as you go from the distributor to the timing belt.

Re: d16y8 swap wont run right
The timing belt is fine and I know that is alligned right. I did resuse the head gasket but i didnt think that would effect the way it ran. I was thinking it would still run fine, even though it could be buring oil and turning oil into milkshake which is bad for it. All cylinders are getting good compression. I reversed timing 180 by rotating each wire on the dizzy two to the right, it basically flipped the dizzy without actually doing so.
Im pretty sure the only codes it was throwing was the o2 sensors. Ill check again tomorrow. Thanks!
