got a 92 hatch with a d16y8 swap. currently having two problems. problem #1: car was overheating on hills and during acceleration, so i replaced the thermostat and the radiator and rad. hoses, and it was fine for about a month. now it overheats after start up and if i let it sit for a while it will eventually cool down. (thermostat sticking?) a shop said the head gasket was blown when i took it to get looked at before i replaced the rad. dont know if thats true or not.

problem #2: sometimes, on warm starts (mostly) the car will start for 2 seconds, then sputter and die. wont start for 5 minutes to an hour. then starts and runs with no problems. took it to a shop, couldnt figure it out cuz it was starting fine.

this week, the two problems seemed to come together. my car overheated after driving for one minute. i turned it off to let it cool down and then it starts and died like in problem number 1. it started a minute later still over heating and wouldnt idle even close to right, it would jump from 500 to 2500 and back and forth. once it stopped over heating it stopped revving.

for fourth of july, im planning on cracking the head, replacing head gasket, water pump, and fuel pump in hopes it will solve the problems.

im just looking for input and ideas before i spend a bunch of money and time, just incase you know of something else it might be.

PS: i know thats a lot to read but i figured id get more of a response if i wasnt like "MY CAR IS OVERHEATING!!! TELL ME WHATS WRONG!!!" lol... thanks guys

has no one had similar problems? also sputtered and shook on start one day, like misfiring on a cylinder...
