D16y8 swap with d16a6??? Need help fast!
So I'm doing a vitara setup in my 98 ex mhich as you know, is OBD-II. I had a d16y8 lined up but the deal fell through.... So there is a guy selling a d16a6 out of his EF (OBD-I) that I am thinging of picking up. I am going to do a full rebuild on the engine but I am unsure if this block will match up with my stock y8 harness. I would be putting my y8 head on it.
Can someone tell me if it will make a difference if it is only the block, or should I hold out for a y8 block?
Going to buy the motor tomorrow please help me out!

a6 wont have a knock sensor on it. was the ef converted to obd1 or do you mean it's obd0? cuz a6's came stock obd0, but that's not going to matter if you are using your y8 head. just keep the car obdII. any way if you are putting your y8 head on there google mini me swapps for help with that. using an a6 bottom is a better idea vs. the y8 any ways, better oiling. OH also the fan switch is on the back of the block not on the thermostat housing. other than that you shouldn't have any problems with it.

Ok that is reasuring, Thanks for the replys
Just to clarify 100%:
A D16 block from an 88 EF has the same sensors on it as a D16 block from an EK. Yes? I know the head/tranny will bolt up. Just want to make sure I won't have a check engine light or have to do some machining to make it work.
