Default d16y8 questions....

okay i have a Honda/Acura Performance book which was recently printed its gotta lot of good information in it, but when it comes to the chapter of all the differnet honda motors, it seems to be a lil wrong it says the 96-00 civic ex is
"fitted with the redesigned version of the SOHC 1.6-liter VTECH motor (D16z) called the VTECH-II. Very simialr to the power plant in the 1992-1995 civic si, this new VTECH had only 5 more cubic centimetersand two more horsepower, for a total of 127 horsepower. The EX carried the Civic Si torch untill 1999" but i own a 99 civic EX and the code on the motor says d16y8.....anyone know anything about this?

thanks

The Y8 is the stock motor for any 96-00 Civic EX. It appears the book isn't all that accurate.

my hanes manual says that the B18C is SOHC and the Ls is the Dohc Vtec. Go figure.
